As a neutral fertilizer, urea is suitable for a variety of soils and plants. It is easy to preserve, easy to use and has little damage to the soil. Urea is synthesized from ammonia and carbon dioxide under certain conditions.
Its formula is H2NCONH2. Urea has important uses as a fertilizer and feed supplement, as well as a starting material for the manufacture of plastics and drugs. It is a colourless, crystalline substance that melts at 132.7° C (271° F) and decomposes before boiling.Urea is a nitrogenous compound containing a carbonyl group attached to two amine groups with osmotic diuretic activity. In vivo, urea is formed in the liver via the ureacycle from ammonia and is the final end product of protein metabolism.
