Function and Application
Tribendimidine is a broad-spectrum intestinal deworming drugs, used in the treatment of the hookworm hookworm (especially America), ascaris infection.
Tribendimidine is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic agent developed in China, at the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases in Shanghai. It is a derivative of amidantel. In clinical trials, it was highly effective in treating ankylostomiasis, ascariasis and enterobiasis. However, animal studies suggest it is ineffective in treating Schistosoma mansoni or Fasciola hepatica disease. The drug has also performed well in trials against opisthorchiasis, curing about 70% of cases.
Tribendimidine is a new anthelmintic from China and has been licensed for use in humans. It is a broad spectrum agent with high activity against parasites. Its potential in veterinary medicine has yet to be established. The mode of action has been partially elucidated in the free living nematode C. elegans but not in a parasite of veterinary importance. We will test the hypothesis that tribendimidine is a cholinomimetic compound (like levamisole, pyrantel, bephenium, oxantel etc) in Ascaris suum.
Tribendimidine could be an alternative drug that has been successfully tested for Opisthorchis viverrini and Clonorchis sinensis infections.
Product Description
Clinical studies have shown that Tribendimidine has the effect of removing a variety of intestinal parasites. The cure rate of simple hookworm duodenal, simple hookworm American and mixed hookworm infection is 84.21%, 89.83% and 82.89% respectively, and the cure rate of single oral administration of this product is 96.13% for adults.
