Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients High-Purity Methotrexate Disodium
Methotrexate Sodium is the sodium salt of methotrexate, an antimetabolite with antineoplastic and immunomodulating properties. It is an inhibitor of TETRAHYDROFOLATE DEHYDROGENASE and prevents the formation of tetrahydrofolate, necessary for synthesis of thymidylate, an essential component of DNA.
Methotrexate Sodium is used to treat cancer cells, also known as poison, in order to reduce the toxicity of cytotoxic, with leucovorin used together, mainly used for the treatment of acute leukemia (acute lymphoblastic leukemia), breast cancer, choriocarcinoma and malignant mole, head and neck cancer, bone tumor, meningeal leukemia spinal cord infiltration, lung cancer, reproductive system tumor, liver cancer, refractory common psoriasis, dermatomyositis, body myositis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn's disease, psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, Behcet's disease and autoimmune disease. Methotrexate is also an immunosuppressant, which can relieve the rheumatic process, and is especially effective in the treatment of synovitis of rheumatoid arthritis. It is one of the most widely used drugs in patients with rheumatoid diseases. The main side effects of methotrexate include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, impaired liver function, oral ulcers, pneumonia, sepsis, and Kaposi's, mild fatigue and headaches, and dry skin.
Methotrexate binds to and inhibits the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase, resulting in inhibition of purine nucleotide and thymidylate synthesis and, subsequently, inhibition of DNA and RNA syntheses. Methotrexate also exhibits potent immunosuppressant properties.
